What converts well
| Case | Verdict | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Standard EPUB file | Converts well | Handled by a dedicated conversion engine. |
| Text-based books (novels, non-fiction, reports) | Converts well | Text, chapters and images render onto A4 pages in reading order; text stays selectable. |
| Fixed-layout EPUBs (picture books, comics) | Partial | Content re-flows onto the A4 template — the original per-page design is not replicated. |
| Your reader's font and layout settings | Not supported | Typography follows the converter's document template; reader settings have no equivalent on paper. |
| DRM-protected store purchases | Not supported | DRM removal is not offered; protected files are refused. |
| Printing and paper submissions | Converts well | Output is a print-ready PDF that behaves like any other document. |
An e-book that has to behave like paper
EPUB is built for screens that change size. It carries no pages of its own — a reading app flows the text to fit whatever window, font size and margin settings you have, so the same file looks different on a phone, an e-reader and a laptop. PDF solves the opposite problem: it freezes a document onto fixed pages that look identical everywhere, on every screen and on every printer.
That difference is exactly why people convert from EPUB to PDF. The moment an e-book has to enter the paper world — a manuscript printed for proofreading, a file attached to an application that demands PDF, a copy archived in a fixed form, or a chapter shared with someone who only has a PDF viewer — the flexible format becomes the wrong format. Converting it gives you a document that prints, stamps, annotates and files like any other PDF, with no reading app required at the other end.
Expect re-pagination, not a page replica
The most important thing to understand before converting: this is a re-flowed rendering, not a replica of your reader. An EPUB file has no page breaks to preserve, so the conversion engine lays your book out on fixed A4 pages from scratch. Text is set in the engine's own typeface and margins, chapter by chapter, and page breaks fall where that layout puts them.
In practice this means three things, stated plainly. The page count will not match what your reading app displays, because the two layouts are different. Line breaks, spacing and typography follow the converter's document template rather than your device's font settings. And features that only exist in reading apps — adjustable font size, dark modes, re-flow — have no equivalent on paper. What survives is the substance of the book: the text, the images, their order, chapter by chapter. What does not survive is the visual dress any particular reader put on it.
What carries over cleanly
The body of the book converts with its content intact. Text arrives as real text in the PDF — selectable, searchable and copyable, not a photograph of a page — which matters whenever someone will quote, annotate or archive the result. Embedded images and illustrations are carried over and placed in the reading flow, and the cover image leads the document. Chapters follow one another in reading order, so a novel, a textbook or a report reads start to finish exactly as the author intended.
One boundary is absolute and worth knowing up front: DRM-protected store purchases cannot be converted. Removing DRM is not something this tool does, so books locked by a store's protection will be refused. DRM-free files — books you exported yourself, publisher files without protection, Project Gutenberg downloads, your own manuscripts — convert without fuss.
Choosing the conversion over printing from your reader
A fair question: your reading app can print too, so why route the file through a converter? The difference is reliability and repeatability. A reader's print dialog prints what your device happens to be showing — your font size, your theme, your window — and two people printing the same book will get two different paginations. The conversion is a fixed pipeline: the same EPUB always comes out with the same A4 layout, the same page count and the same typography, whether you run it today or next month, on a phone or a desktop.
That consistency is exactly what the steps after the conversion want. If you are sending the PDF to a print shop, attaching it to an application, or dropping it into a shared archive where someone else will find and read it, a predictable layout matters more than a familiar one. The reading app remains the better tool for the reading itself; the PDF is the better artifact for everything that happens once the reading is done.
Privacy and retention
The conversion runs like the rest of the site: you upload one file, free, with no account required, and there is no watermark on the output. Transport is encrypted, processing happens on the conversion cluster, and both your original EPUB and the generated PDF are deleted automatically within 24 hours. Afterwards, the only copy of your book is the one you downloaded.

Frequently asked
Is EPUB to PDF conversion really free?
Yes. During the beta everything on LiteConvert is free within daily per-IP quotas (failures refunded). No account required, no card, no watermark on the output.
Are my files safe?
Your files travel over HTTPS, are converted, and both the original and the result are automatically deleted within 24 hours. We never sell or share uploaded files, and there are no third-party ad networks on this site.
How long does a conversion take?
Most files finish in seconds. Larger files take longer, and you will see progress while the conversion runs.
Why do the page breaks differ from my reading app?
Because the PDF is a re-flowed rendering, not a copy of your reader's display. An EPUB has no fixed pages, so the conversion lays the book out on A4 pages from scratch — the page count and line breaks follow that layout, not your app's font and margin settings.
Which page size is the PDF rendered on?
A4, with the converter's own margins and typography.
Can I convert DRM-protected store books?
No — DRM removal is not offered, so books locked by store protection are refused. DRM-free EPUB files convert without any fuss.
Are images and the cover kept?
Yes — embedded images and illustrations are placed in the reading flow, and the cover image leads the document.
How long does the conversion take?
Usually within a few minutes; like any job on the platform it can take up to about 15 minutes for a large book.
